Manioc is a tuberous edible perennial plant of the spurge family. It is cultivated for its tuberous roots, from which cassava flour, breads, tapioca, a laundry starch, and an alcoholic beverage are derived.

Cassava tubers are made into flour, which are then made into Bâton de Manioc and other, similar, Fufu-like foods such as Bobolo, Chicouangue, Chickwangue, Chikwangue, Kwanga, Mboung, Mintumba, Miondo, and Placali.
